thought it was more like 6 seconds. those 5-6 seconds could have been the difference between life and death.

5 seconds is a long time when you're out on your feet and the other man is landing shots on you like that.

I'm tired of this "he should have just let him go on so he could have won." NO - it doesn't matter if there's two minutes left, or two seconds left. A stoppage should happen when the fighter can no longer continue.

    Here, he couldn't continue.

There is an HBO docuseries that covered that fight. They go over it in detail. It was waived off with 2 seconds left. I think it may still be on Youtube. It's called HBO legendary nights: Taylor vs Chavez. There are people who thought it should never have been waived off and some who fully agree that it was the right call. Richard Steele, the ref, explained exactly what he was thinking and feeling when he waived it off. Very powerful stuff.

Yeah it doesn't matter if it was 2 seconds left, 5 seconds, or 2 minutes left.

the referee is supposed to stop a fight when a fighter can't continue. He didn't believe he was able to continue as he didn't come to him when he was asked to.

Even in those 2 seconds, all it would take is a 2, or 3 punch combination on an opponent who can't defend himself, and that could cause a brain bleed, or worse.

                excellent refereeing job by Steele.

For Taylor that's one of those fights you just never come back from. It should have been stopped earlier.
