well, obviously mystyal2k5 made his thread to try to downgrade ali's competition, so i'll do the same for tyson. this was tyson's biggest win in his entire career, knocking out a light heavyweight. how good as a hw was spinks really? who in their prime did he really beat worth mentioning?

He was a great light heavy weight, and a good heavyweight because of his boxing skill, he wasn't big enough to weigh in with the great heavyweights, I don't think Mystyal thinks that either, nice try Butterfly. Are You related to Ali, you seem to be enthralled with the man, get some help...

Michael Spinks was a pretender. Liston would beat that gimp with the left hand only.

Nah, he was actually an all time great LHW and a pretty decent heavyweight as well. Not top 20 material though as far as champions go, but he would kick a lot of ass if he were fighting today.

Tyson at the time was still untested. All the talent in the world means nothing if you don't have the intangibles (heart, intelligence, the ability to make adjustments during a fight) to back it up. Spinks had the experience, the skill, and the heart to give him a good test and possibly take him into the late rounds and dismantle him. Unfortunately, Spinks was intimidated and bombed out in short order before he was ever in the fight.
