  • Comments Thread For: Vera Continues His Upset Streak With Dzinziruk TKO

36-year old Ukrainian former 154 lb. titlist Sergiy Dzinziruk (37-2-1, 24 KO) of Hamburg, Germany found out what Middleweight contender Andy Lee and former Jr. Middleweight titlist Sergio Mora have discovered in the past. Friday night at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, 31-year old Brian Vera (22-6, 13 KO) of Austin, Texas, proved again more than the sum of his parts and all fighter in dropping Dzinziruk three times en route to a stoppage in the tenth round. It was the second stoppage loss in the career of Dzinziruk, the other coming in a 2011 Middleweight title shot versus Sergio Martinez. Dzinziruk hasn’t won a fight since 2010.

I would like to see Vera vs Rubio or Vera vs Proksa after Super G's tune-up.

    Nice win for Vera.

I'd love to see J'Leon Love step up against a Vera, Rubio, Lee type opponent this year.

Vera seems to be a candidate for Golovkin's tune up. From ring:
According to his manager David Watson, a possible bout with WBA middleweight titleholder Gennady Golovkin hung in the balance.
Would much rather see Vera over Adama. Adama is awkward as hell and could make a boring fight.

The way Dzinziruk came back after that beating in the 8th was great. I said he had a little Gatti in him during the RBR so it's shame he couldn't keep up the heart he was showing after being dropped in the 10th. He could have probably kept on going if he wanted it bad enough.

Sergei hasn't looked too good in his fights following the loss to Martinez. I think he should consider hanging them up.

Good win, but to put it into perspective Dzinziruk is 36 (37 in March), has fought just once a year since 2010 (having not fought at all in 2009) and isn't a natural Middleweight.

Shame that his ability, at his best, wasn't seen by more fans who have him down as a Eurobum despite wins over Joel Julio, Lukas Konecny, Daniel Santos, Sebastian Andres Lujan, Hussein Bayram, Mamadou Thiam and Daniel Dawson.

Saying that however well done to Vera for scoring another upset victory, he showed his trademark guts and aggression and all the best for him, will certainly make a fun to watch "victim" for GGG.

Dzinziruk sucks. I knew Vera was going to win.

rea really showed a gritty/dtermined effort vs Dzinziruk who had no answer 4 his tight hand...I especially enjoyed Hernandez's win vs overtated Luis...xcellent job, on really, 3 days notice w/nno time to train, just pack up & go..young MW Douglas showed speed but needs 2 learn 2 keep his hands up
