  • Chavez and Tyson stationary fighters?

Do you feel JCC and Tyson were stationary fighters and predictable?

    No.

Not until they were mere shadows of their once great selves.

Agreed. Tyson with his prime was always on his toes. He was so scary because he was always coming after you and had that great head movement to get out the way and deliver his own devastating blows.

Stationary? Hell no. Predictable? Maybe...but as Larry Merchant said: so is a hurricane. What are you going to do about it?

Chavez at his peak certainly wasn't.If you had watched just the Chavez at 140,then you'd probably come away with the impression that he's just a really aggressive, one dimensional pressure fighter. But if you watch him at 130 and 135,in particular his fights against Ramirez and Lockridge, you'll see that he's actually a very skilled, complete fighter, with excellent footwork and brilliant at picking his shots.A very good counterpuncher too.

You'll see flashes of a peak Chavez in his rematch with Randall.Emanuel Steward commented that he had no idea that Chavez was that good a boxer before he started working with him

Tyson tended to become more of a stationary target when he was frustrated with an opponent and his own inability to get off the type of combinations that he would like to.

Usually occured against survival experts like Green and Smith.
