  • Folks, never underestimate a promoter's judgement

There's a reason why last night's fight hadn't happened. The only reason why this happened was cause Rigo re-upped with TR in exchange of him getting a Donaire fight so Arum had no choice. At the beginning of this video you can see Arum didn't think Donaire could beat Rigo

Despite of what some people think these guys know what they're doing and they know how to protect their fighters. Last night we saw why Arum was avoiding this fight and Donaire was doing the same. Cause since he(Donaire) started making his excuses for not fighting Rigo, nothing changed up till last night. Rigo still had one belt, Rigo was still a "nobody" and Rigo still had the same "boring" style. So why didnt Donaire fight him earlier? We all know why now. I mean, a few of us already knew but some people were being blinded by the excuses.

No choice? Did anyone force Bob to re-upp Rigo? You're acting as if Rigo was some must have draw that was going to bring Bob lots of money. He didn't have to resign him. He doesnt bring much to the table. The only reason Bob wanted Rigo was so he could use him as a Donaire opponent. That was always his plan.

The reason was the he was asking for $750k. The other recent Donaire opponents were only getting $100-250 by HBO so of course those fight were easier to make.

Ah there you are. Haven't seen you all day.

No one forced him but apparently Arum felt differently from you. There's a reason why he sounds all bitter and making excuses for Donaire after the loss.

He planned on using Rigo as an opponent for Donaire? Did you watch the video? You don't use someone who you think your fighter can't beat as an opponent bruh...

I meant opponent as in the literal definition of opponent "Someone who competes against or fights another in a contest, game, or argument." Yes, Rigo was an opponent.

Arum himself said the reason he didn't make it earlier was that Rigo's asking price was too high.

So why did he make it then or gave Rigo the offer? I'm not sure if they specified a price in the new contract but Arum HAD TO provide the fight or else he would be violating his contractual obligations.

There's also a reason why Donaire made 20 million excuses and then leading up to the fight he was looking for every way out.

These guys knew what was up.

Could it be he was saying that to keep Nonito from looking bad ?

              Most likely the case.

In that video right there he says Donaire wouldn't beat Rigo so whatever else he says as an excuse is simply bs. And boy was he right...

HBO invested a lot of money in Donaire this year, which paid off by Donaire becoming fighter of the year. He's a lot more popular now, which made it possible for HBO to cough up more money for Donaire opponents. HBO would have not paid Rigo $750 last year, which is still a ridiculous amount for a Cuban with no fanbase in a lower weight class. Donaire himself was still getting paid $750k last year.

Arum was obviously mad at Donaire for leaving him for Golden boy. Of course he's going to talk smack. Had Rigo left him, he would have said the same thing about Rigo.

He's already talked Rigo down and that was before the contract was up. He even tried to rob him according to Rigo and his people. Even after all that he said Donaire couldn't beat Rigo.
