  • Comments Thread For: Shumenov: Cleverly and Dawson Never Got Back To Me

WBA light heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov was on hand at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to support his friend Andy Ruiz Saturday night who defeated Carl Davis via first round knockout.

BoxingScene.com caught up with Shumenov afterwards to talk about his future. The once beaten fighter has been inactive since defeating Enrique Ornelas last June. Shumenov said he has been in the gym training and that he thought he was close to getting a unification fight against WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly. He also said he reached out to Chad Dawson's team without any success.

You need to get real Beibut, Cleverly has been busy clearing out the division pal! Shumenov needs to get some names like Kuziemski, Karpency, Hawk and Krasniqi on his record, then we can talk.

Wasn't it because his people couldn't get a date from Showtime and didn't want the fight in the UK?

Shumenov hasn't had a legitimate fight in three years. Another bumfight coming up

Springfiels pal- I sure hope you were joking about Cleverly clearing out the division. Shumenov already beat Kuziemski in the Olympics and he used Hawk and Karpency as sparring partners years ago. So Cleverly is fighting Shumenov's left overs not clearing out the division. Cleverly was sent a letter of intent to fight Shumenov in the 1st quarter of 2013 in Nevada and thus disappeared.

True. And Shumenov's people couldn't even get an American tv date.

I would think people would know better then to believe everything that they read in the press or that Frank Warren says. Frank Warren never has made an offer to Shumenov of any money to fight anywhere. Shumenov has never turned down any offer to fight Cleverly. The truth is Cleverly/Warren tell the press that they want a unification but they do not. Shumenov's team have written proof of offers to Cleverly that were ignored. Cleverly/Warren did NOT want the fight on several occasions not just one. There is no written proof of anything from Warren to Shumenov as none exists!
