  • Question about UK brand "PATAKS" curry simmering sauce?

I absolutely love curry - my favorite. . . I can't seem to make it right, so I just buy pre-made curry from the local indian and pakistani restaurants. . .

however, i noticed in the story the other day, there was a line of curry simmering sauces entitled "Pataks". . And I noticed they are a "product of the U.K."

They were like 4 bucks for a jar, in which I could probably make a good 3 curry dishes out of. . .

DO THEY TASTE LIKE REAL, AUTHENTIC, CURRY?! Or is it some bunk shyt?

        Fry onions and garlic.

Add peppers, chilli peppers and ginger.

        Stir and heat for 5mins

        Add diced chicken pieces.

Add cumin, tumeric, ground cinnamon and nutmeg.

Stir it all and let it heat on high.

Add 1/4 - 1/2 litre of apple juice. Add a lot of tomato puree too.

Cover with a lid and heat low for about 15mins.

Come back and heat high for 5 mins until the sauce is thick.

        Golden. With rice, you're set.

sounds dank-o-reffic! the apple juice really must contrast, and enhance the spices!

It's one of the nicest I've tasted. I was surprised. You have to be sparing with the chilli though...or it's lights out. Or maybe you like that lol

            And it's damn healthy...

Pataks is not bad as curry sauce goes.

                Pataks are pretty good.

                Go for it.

Tried to make some creamy carrot soup yesterday, all three of my blenders broke so my soup looked and tasted like vomit.

Up for making something else though. Might make a chowder. Got a week of work and I am concerned I'm wasting it. Learning easy riffs on Guitar, too. Van Halen Jump on the Keyboard.

This is the thing with Holidays. Work forces you to take all your remaining holiday in December and then by that time everybody else is working. Bored ****less.

Starjammer has it down to a tee, although i've never made a curry with apple juice. Will try it now though. Thanks for the heads up.
