I have a feeling he's not ready yet for Floyd. I think he shoulda taken at least one more fight, against somebody like Mike Jones or even Kell Brook and then if he won impressively he could take on Floyd. I fear Floyd may once again profit from fighting a fighter thats not 100% in some aspect.

You snooze you lose if you don't take the mega fights with Pac or Floyd when they're offered to you. Ortiz is in a win-win and has as much momentum now as he will ever have. Personally, the timing is as good as it's gonna get for him.

I think he is being rushed, but the money and publicity tells Ortiz otherwise.

People are expecting Ortiz to lose, but he's still dangerous and a very credible opponent for Mayweather.

If Ortiz can put up a good effort against someone of Floyd's caliber, then it would be a moral victory for him.

As long as he doesn't get dominated or completely outclassed, this should be a win-win situation for Ortiz, even in defeat.

He's a young guy, he's already lost his 0, so why not? He'll probably learn more in defeat to Floyd than by beating an inferior fighter.

yeah, probably, but it's one of those opportunities that's very difficult to pass up. It's rare guys pass down career high paydays. Povetkin is the only real name that comes to my mind recently and he's probably a worse fighter now than he was when he had the chance thanks to Teddy Atlas.

I think you all made valid points. Victor prolly ain't ready 100%, but if he waits he may not get another superfight like that. Boxers who turn down a big fight get easily stamped as duckers. And thats not a reputation a guy like Victor wants, a Mexican-American with a mainly Mexican-American fanbase. I do think he proved against Berto that he is a worthy opponent for Money. It just remains to see how good he really is. If he wins this then it means he's the next BIG thing, like JC Chavez or something.

And I didn't wanna make it sound as Floyd is cherrypicking btw.
