he has been forced to be exciting by getting the s.hit beat out of him inside and not having a ref to bail him out...

if he has a house ref, against a foe who can walk him down, you get Berto-Forbes or Berto-Urango 12 round hugfests....

Well he has been in some really good fights and those were his biggest fights, plus his fights against the lesser guys usually end up with the other guy on the floor or getting stopped in some way. There were a few bad fights he was in no doubt but for the most part his fights have delivered in some way (either a good fight or some guy getting hurt) that casual fans want to see.

No to mention he has been on HBO or Showtime for like all his fights for the last few years, that gives a certain perception unless you are a pretty hardcore fan (but keep in mind people here are the minority of people who watch boxing).

Not really. if you ever watched him on dibella's cards from new york when he first started he was exciting to watch. Granted it wasn't great comp but he did earn his way to HBO.

              End of.

Stop talking about how good he is, or who he can't beat, or who he's only beat.

Put him in the ring, and you have entertainment guaranteed... at the end of the day, that's what 90% of the people out there watching HBO boxing want to see.
Yes he is but it doesn't justify him constantly getting top billing with huge paydays. There are many fighters who are much more entertaining than him but aren't treated as good.

Not to mention better fighters, watch him get a bad main event on his return, that spot would be better for guys like brook or abregu that can still make something with their careers
Berto aint going nowhere he already reached his peak and couldnt cut it on the big leagues its all downhill now.

that said, berto has been in some terrific fights. collazo was a great fight. ortiz was the fight of the year. guerrero will be a candidate for foty, and probably come in third behind alvarado- rios, and pacquiao - marquez 4
                  this^^

haymon + how entertaining his fights are.

say what you want about his level of oposition, you know you dont regret watching after the fight is over.
