  • Ward vs Martinez - American Double Standard?

Are we that desperate for a champ?

Ward beat top fighters. He beat the #1 guy in the division above the odds, he's the REAL DEAL. Froch, Bika

Martinez beats up CHAMP Pavlik on SHORT NOTICE, as a junior middleweight, and it gets changed to "he should have won anyways". KTFO of Williams, and "Williams isn't a real middle anyways" like Martinez is?

Ward beats top contenders, as does Martinez.

    - Ward says "no" to Bute, Martinez says yes, to Chavez and whups his ass.

And Ward is the lock to the hall of fame?

Ward has pretty much cleaned out his division. Sergio hasn't.

Ward also has about 10 years of quality left to add on to that, I guess the future is not certain but one has to figure Ward is going to get more done over the rest of his career than Sergio will. So if they are close of even if you rate Sergio a bit ahead, probability favors Ward chasing him down and surpassing him easily.

American's like gold medal winners also~

Worst logic. If Pudwill can DROP, and beat Ward than Martinez sure can.

Martinez could have fought Sturm. Right now he can fight Pirog, Geale, or Golovkin.

Dude, I am the biggest Martinez fan, but come one.

Martinez didn't/hasn't fight: Geale, Strum, Pirog, Golovkin, Quillin.

I realize some of these fights were not his fault; no one but Pirog expressed interest in coming to America and fighting Sergio. Ward is early in his career and has cleaned out 168 pounds, and it looks like he's going to do the same thing once he hits '75.

By the time Ward retires, he will have absolutely dominated two divisions. Martinez has never wiped out any division.
