** The full fight got pulled for some reason and this put in it's place.

The fight a complete disgrace from top to bottom. An inquiry was held after Siki stripped and suspended, and like most bureaucratic bunglings, they passed on a ruling. Instead Siki signed the rematch contract which he promptly broke by going over to Ireland on St Paddy's day and having the title lifted by McTigue.

Clearly Siki is no more than a big dumb clod, a 10 on those attributes and a 2 on boxing skill, he could throw inside uppercuts, and that's it. Peter Benson's bio claims Siki took the loser's share in advance and he never got more than that. Carp didn't trainfor the "arranged bout" which was being filmed for distribution to French theater as part of a glorious homecoming of the French hero after the Dempsey fight.

Instead, after handling Siki easily, knocking him down several times, wondering why he keeps getting up, he supposedly breaks his power hand, the right. Siki's not going down per script and now Carp is tired and getting beat up, so he butts his way through the last half of the 5th.

Then in the 6th Siki kicks the inside of his knee as he pulls him down and hits him in the back on the way down. So Carp could've been DQed in the 5th, Siki most assuredly should've been DQed in the 6th because Carp is holding his leg up and can't continue. He complains to the ref who rules in his favor. Then the judges overrule the ref, and then the commission suspends and strips Siki.

Siki never had single win over a name or class fighter other than Carp where he got battered. His HOF inclusion and rep based on this single travesty only.

Carp was a very tricky, dangerous, highly unorthodox fighter prone to a little hysteria and acting out when he didn't get his way as the Siki fight shows. He fought well from the outside with his Roy Jones type offense and inside he was a consummate grappler and puncher. Highly underrated where as Siki grossly overrated.

I do sort of feel for Siki as he comes to America where he's lucky to break even on his fights and dives into the bottle. Cut a fine figure in Paris all duded up and walking his lion cubs. His bio tries to portray him in a positive light, but the guy was out getting drunk every night getting into scraps and arguments. No judgement or discipline at all.

Interesting that the Carp fight is the only one he appears to be filmed in. Not a pretty picture of him.
