He got super aggressive to the point of wildness when he smelled blood. He was a deadly finisher, but when he started to really unload, you could drop him with a counter. He wouldn't even be hurt, but he'd punch himself off balance and you could put him on his ass. Then he'd get up and fuck your world up, though, so in the long run, not much of a weakness.

No actual flaws; but one area of his game that might be considered slightly inferior to some other ATGs would be defense. Ray was defensively very sound, but there have been more slippery/elusive fighters in history.

Pretty much every other area of his game in his prime/near prime was 10 out of 10. Speed of hand and foot, power, combination work, chin, grace, killer instinct, workrate......

Robinson's strength occasionally became his weakness. His aggressiveness tended to backfire on him at times.

            Poor internal air conditioning.

SRR did have some difficulty against agile fighters as Randy Turpin who pretty much took his jab away in their first encounter in which SRR lost. He of course avenged that loss in spectacular fashion. An agile Carmen Basillo who was a natural WW would do a lot of bobbing and weaving to take away some of SRR devastating hooks in their first fight. In fairness, SRR did land enough jabs to cut Basillo's left eye.

His best defense was his legs, and perhaps in close phone booth fighting his defensive skill was not up their with some of the best Burley, Walcott, Locche etc. However, he was very durable. His only stoppage loss was due to heat exhaustion when he failed to get his 3rd divisional title against Joey Maxim. He pretty much collasped to his corner. He was clearly winning the bout.

Some will say his stamina cost him two losses to Paul Pender. But they were close decisions that many felt were hometown gift decisions for the Boston local. Moreover, SRR was like 39 years old at the time.

He really had no major flaws as a fighter. Perhaps he got hit more than necessary and could have finished stronger in some of his losses. But he is still #1 P4P in my list

He fought way beyond his prime, however his "out of prime" was good enough to defeat top contenders much younger than himself and champions too!
His defense was suberb but he gave up some of it to take control of a fight when he felt his opponent didn't have the power to stop him! He had a perfect build for a fighter and his attitude and willingness to defend and defeat has not been matched yet! With 200+ pro fights and another 140+ amatuer fights he was the Professor of Boxing and could box & fight at the same time!! Methods and Techniques that no one else has emulated then add in his passion and you have a boxing machine that reigned supreme for years!
                Ray.

Hard to comment on his style as a WW, but as a MW, and the later his career went, the more he relied on durability over defense. He had a willingness to trade, which got him dropped many times as he could get wild when trying to finish opponents (though paradoxically he got the most deadly after these incidents, like they caused him to get really serious). He was more offensive than all-around balanced in this period.
