This is exactly right. The issue isn't in finding women attractive or in being attracted to women who happen to be engaged in a sporting endeavour. The issue is the automatic denigration of women who do not meet some arbitrary threshold of attractiveness at the expense of any actual achievements they may have had.

This thread is an example of misogyny. It immediately discounts any achievement in representing their country in favour of suggesting that they look awful and are thus worthless.

well we're genetically predisposed to prefer attractive, fertile women...just like women often look for athletic, healthy men who will be able to provide for their (future) children

often we men discount other achievements but thats often when we dont know the women well, like in the case of celebrities. we dont discredit powerful women most of the time we just feel intimidated by them because we like to be in control and honestly women love for a man to be in control but thats beside the point

I've seen plenty of women play football and their are plenty of hotties. Most of them aren't wearing make up so they aren't going to look the best. I guarantee if they were dressed in mini skirts with make-up and all the rest people would form a different opinion.

Nobody is denying that men like attractive women. It's not the judging of the attractiveness of sportswomen that is so offensive in this thread, it's the dismissal of their sporting achievement because they don't fulfill an arbitrary level of attractiveness according to the teenage virgin who made the thread.
