Cotto only had one loss on his record and that was a tainted loss by a loaded gloved Margarito.

Cotto looked strong in that fight it's hard to say how much the Margarito loss affected him, I would argue that was a close to prime cotto at least due to the weight issue. The below welterweight limit must have been an issue seeing as his next fight was at super welterweight.
