  • Comments Thread For: Martin Murray-Jorge Navarro For The Vacant WBA Title

MARTIN MURRAY’S patience has been rewarded by getting a crack at the WBA interim middleweight title.

The St Helens star will meet unbeaten Venezuelan Jorge Navarro (12-0) for the vacant crown at Manchester Arena on Saturday November 24, on the bill topped by Ricky Hatton’s comeback fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko.

Murray (24-0-1) has been waiting for another big fight since drawing against then WBA super champion Felix Sturm last December.

His manager Neil Marsh said: “Our team could not have worked any harder to secure a very important contest against a hard hitting unbeaten fighter ranked seventh by the WBA.

WBA #3 vs. WBA #7, I can accept that. But Murray better fight someone relevant after this.

So Golovkin becomes the new Super champ? And Murray the "regular" champ?

There shouldn't even be a "Super" champion at MW. Golovkin should be crowned the "World" champion.

Not a great fight, Navarro looks decent but most importantly it's putting Murray in a title fight position.

Golovkin is being crowned the "World" champion, and Murray/Navarro are fighting for the interim title. It wouldn't make sense to crown GGG the "Super" champion.

They just stripped Geale so I guess they needed another champion at the weight.

6-12 months down the line, if Golovkin does get an offer to fight Sergio, Geale or Quillin, the WBA will probably strip him for not facing Murray instead.

The WBA have to be the laughting sock of World boxing! Both Rigo @ 122Lb & Geale @ 160Lb have proven there worth & should be treated appropriatlly. The Quigg/Munroe fight should be for the British title, not the phoney WBA interin bauble!!
