The super 6 had its problems with fighters dropping out & fights being postponed but what we did see was the best fighting the best over a course of 2 years and ended up with a clear undisputed champion. Would anyone else like to see more tournaments like this maybe tweaked a bit? If so what weight? I'd love to see Broner at 140 & a super 6 style tournament at that weight? Would like to hear what you've got to say on this irrespective of promotional & tv boundaries that would get in the way

I'd rather they try to make such fights on a fight by fight basis. It was a good thing that so many of the best super middleweights fought each other, but there was controversy in half the fights, a lot of them didn't happen, and if not for how great Ward was the winner of the tourney would have been questionable, at best.
It's a great idea to make the fights, but to try and plan something like over the course of multiple years just won't work out.

The super 6 was great, but the tournament illustrated that such a rigid format in the world of boxing is bound to run into problems. 2 fighters ended up pulling out and having to be replaced. Also the issue of hometown advantage seemed to be a constant issue for every fight.
a 4 man mini elimanator is way easier to do like what GBP have planned, and whoever comes out on top of that will probably be the #1 guy in the division.

it strikes me as sad that we NEED a super six to mount best versus best fights.
Some divisions it just wouldn't happen - imagine trying to organise a S6 for HWs. Bunch of cowards wouldn't even bother entertaining the idea. Might have worked in Lennox's time but not with these serial failed sparring partner defenders.
Course now everyone can win a version of the world title, theres less propensity to unify in S6 or S4 style tournies. Only the brave will enter such.Last edited by DreamFighter; 03-13-2013, 10:42 AM.

Won't work in the format they did it before. They should do it like the UFC are doing it with UFC 158 with the welterweights. a 4 man eliminator is better imo. If they did it with all of the fights close to each other OR on the same card, it could still work but this is Boxing so its doubtful.
