Because the Mexicans didn’t buy the fight

Because maybe Berto was a complete bum who had no chance in hell of making it a competitive fight .

I remember certain fans belittling Floyd's "terrible" numbers, but then boxing's new great hope only managed to do 97k versus David Lemieux. That put 400k into perspective. Those numbers were actually pretty damn good considering the circumstance.

But to answer your question, Showtime barely promoted this fight. Choosing Berto as opponent was Floyd doing the bare to fulfill his six fight deal with Showtime

Because it was a completely useless, stay busy, low sought after fight that was not a pay per view worth watching. The end

The casual fan doesn't know who Berto is. They know who McGregor is. Plus you had Dana White trying to help sell the fight with his "peanut brittle hands" comments.

It's why more people dialed in to watch KSI vs. Logan Paul - two non-pros - on a YouTube event where they saw this:

So it definitely did terrible numbers for Floyd.
Still shows are those terrible number beats the supposedly greatest HW fight of our era. If he have those numbers now we would all be crying tears of joy.

Canelo vs GGG did 2.5x-ish those numbers last year. Wut the f#ck are you talking about?

Hell Wilder vs Fury & Spence vs Garcia DID do good numbers. Sh^t man anyone doing 250k+ is doing pretty f#cking good. And anyone doing 1M+ more than once is a superstar in boxing.

So again Floyd vs Berto was good numbers for a regular PPV, but garbage numbers for a Floyd PPV cuz Floyd is a superstar.

Did I compare Mayweather/Berto to Canelo numbers? No, I compared it to Wilder/Fury. The shitest Mayweather number still beat the HW with all the hype (2.5m PPV projection by Team Wilder). So I don’t know why you getting your knickers in a twist.

550 k with Berto who was unranked is not a terrible number infact it shows how big of a draw Floyd is.
