  • Who's Better? Jose Luis Ramirez or Yori Boy Campas.

Both reached a century of wins.

Ramirez obviously had a better chin (he's up there with the best of them) but his opposition was meagre in 90 or so of his fights.

But he did stop an undefeated Edwin Rosario. And Cornelius Boza Edwards - although he was well past it at that stage.

But Campas has plenty of wins over A-/B+ level opposition. And has generally fought at a higher level through-out his career, well the latter half anyway.

So who do you think is better?

You forgot to add that Ramirez was very unlucky to not get the W against a prime Alexis Arguello.

And the answer is Ramirez, by far.

Ramirez, and like Dan said, it's not even close. Yori Boy folded every single time he stepped up against a top opponent.

Ramirez took it to another level, Campos didn't.

            Thank you Chaps.

I respectfully disagree. However, Ramirez may just well be the toughest fighter since 1980.

Win or lose, Ramirez had one of THE most toughest level of competition ever in the sport.

His only decent wins were against Edwin & Boza. Most of his fights were against kids dragged off the street.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but Ramirez fought future hall of famer Ruben Olivares in only his 9th fight. He was hardly protected. Here are some of Ramirez's other opponents (all in their prime) who weren't dragged off the street:

                  Whitaker (x2)
                  Chavez
                  Rosario (x2)
                  Arguello
                  Mancini
                  Camacho
                  Coggi

Ever see Ramirez's bout with Julio Cesar Chavez? Even though it was a loss, it was a very close fight.
I would rate Ramirez's upset win over Rosario better than any win Campos has. Many thought Ramirez won the first Rosario fight as well.
