Ny golden gloves question

my fried just signed up for novice gloves
he learned how to fight as a kid but has fought in years
does he even have a shot ? hes 5'7' 160 fight in 165 novice class

all the gloves i been to i remember the 165 class having taller fighters
im hoping he can at least win a couple matches

has he actually boxed before? or train? its kinda hard to tell from your post but if he hasnt ever really boxed in competition i would say he has a slim chance
