Boxing is a niche sport and if you don’t have a built in fan base ( Mexican or Mexican-American ) regardless of your skills your ceiling is only so high. You need a persona that can grab casual and non boxing fans attention to get to the next level and probably the easiest way for a black fighter to do that is act mad n.iggerish

Nice wolf in the picture. I am a big Crawford fan. He is a great fighter and did the world a favor beating the hell out of the annoying Horn and making him go away. I like the way Crawford conducts himself in and out of the ring. He is a champion to be proud of.

Anyway, he brings up a lot of great points when he had the breakfast club interview on Friday and I think the video was uploaded on monday. Brought up that other fighters from other countries come to this country and sell fights and they just act like themselves. He doesn't want to act ignorant to sell fights and I respect his point of view and he's right, he shouldn't have to. Unfortunately for him, here in America that **** sells. Look at Mayweather and Connor. Perfect examples of how talking ****, sells fights. Hopefully Terrence Crawford's fan base grows and people wake up in terms of who to root for. Thoughts?

If you aren't a loudmouth, then you either have to ko 3 or 4 tomato cans a year or fight elite opponents. It doesn't really matter how you act if you never fight anyone elite, you don't sell. If you are never going to fight someone better than Postol, it is going to be hard to sell fights.

Say what you want about Broner, but he has fought Maidana, Porter, and Mikey. Being an ignorant loudmouth helps, but AB is an undercard fighter- if that- if not for taking chances.

Ward may have sold fights if he didn't take off for years. The thing is, after proving he was a top p4p fighter, he didn't fight another elite opponent for 4 years after beating Dawson. Bud doesn't sell fights because he is an elite fighter facing nothing but journeymen.

I always find it funny black fighters have to have some extravagant personality.
I've seen these same dudes root for a foreign fighter that can only laugh and smile and say 'huh'' when asked questions. There's nothing wrong with that, learning new languages is a challenging task, but don't act like a lot of these guys don't have manufactured personalities.
