Why do they wear gloves in Muay Thai but allow bare elbows and knees

If a sport is gonna allow kneeing and elbowing then why even bother wearing boxing gloves?

Anyway, most of the time in Muay Thai, they're kickin', kneein' and elbowin', punching is not even high on their list.

Because the knuckles cause alot of damage, horrible damage. Plus, in MT its highly unlikely that someone gets cut open from knees and elbows. They all know how to defend them and how to avoid them. As many knees and elbows I seen in MT, punching cuts people open hell of alot more.

If you land a full force punch on someones head your hand kills after. The gloves protect your hands more than your head.

you are right, most points is kneeing and kicking. but isnt it would be better if you use your full arsenal and make up some combinations..? aren't you a thai fighter? why ask silly questions
