Same size as a Fiesta, maybe 5k or less more in the price but a hell of a lot quicker and looks a lot better.
Of course If I had the money I'd buy a GOLF gti instead.

i drove a (female) friend's golf awhile back, well, it's technically a "Rabbit" (VW's new name for the same car as of 2008).
it's cool, fun to drive. first time I drive a manual VW, i like that you have to push to shifter down to be able to engage reverse. that's pretty neat.
she's had that car for about 2 years and it's been in the dealer getting fixed about 25% of the time that she's owned it.

over here, the top of the line Golf is the GTI, if it isn't the "GTI" trim, it's just a Golf, no Polo. Some VW models have an "R" trim (like the new CC). I think it's mostly just aesthetic upgrades like different wheels, bumpers, side skirt kits, etc

My friend used to have a Golf GTi back in 07 it was brand new,
Thing was beast, The handling and grip was unreal.
He took it out on a track about half an hour outside dublin, Some fun with it.
What do you drive?

I drive a BMW 318, it's 6 years old though.
Hoping to get something new in the new year, I'm pretty broke right now though and BMW's aren't worth **** anymore.
So I don't expect anymore then 3000euro for the one I have now, If even.
