  • Let's Talk Walk Up Song

We get a walk up song because it's a fun event, in a "Going to get punched in the face" kind of way. I'm actually thinking I won't even hear the song as I'll be focused on seeing the ref to get my gear checked and then go to my corner to speak to my ring coach. With that in mind I was thinking "Who is the walk up song for?"

Is the song to get ME mentally ready? I should already be ready. Is the song to get the crowd going, to let them know what my attitude is? And so on.

I COULD do something from my list that I have going during my "Fight Mode" heavy bag work.

However, I think I'll do "I Got You Babe" by Sonny and Cher.

    Totally unexpected.

This is pretty awesome. Personally, I'd pick something which wouldn't get you TOO pumped up as that could be counterproductive. Adrenaline will do that naturally and being overhyped distracts from the gameplan. The Sonny & Cher pick might just do the trick. If I had a fight tomorrow I'd probably choose 'The Boss' by James Brown as that's what I've been listening to between training sessions.

Good luck and keep us posted!

My walkout song would be "I'll make love to you" by Boys to Men. That is a psychological assault of a fight walkout.

Nice! How about instead of touching gloves you give a long, tender hug? Whisper "I hope you do well ...."

I have been focused on keeping calm but I know it may be a struggle the day of the event. I really doubt I'll hear the song unless I hear my sister laughing (at the choice of song) through the chaos.

Before I followed the link I thought "Is that lyric from RATM?"

Yep. Great tune. Angry enough and boxing fact.

This is a favorite shared song between my son and I. I am listening to it now and my god I'm getting cranked up.

We were introduced to this song off the Godzilla soundtrack.
