I think he's good enough a trainer to atleast have won the award one of his active years.

He's a world class trainer IMO.

      Perhaps 2007.

If Roger was a white gay guy who had Parkinson's he would win easily.

Think he probably deserved to win it in 2007, 2 very high profile fights but any other year, no, think you need to have atleast 1 profile fighter to train, reason Roach got it, he's got numerous world champions, this year Khan defended his titles twice, Pacquiao defended twice & Chavez defended his world title twice.

What can Roger boast besides Floyd? Does he have any other notable fighters in his stable that he's led to notable victories? Take Manny away from Roach and he still has Khan, Chavez Jr, Quillin, worked with the likes of DLH, Toney, Tyson, etc. Garcia has Nonito, Rios, his brother Mickey. Who else does Roger even work with... Tim Coleman, anyone else?

When Floyd is on vacation or MIA for one reason or another, what is it that Roger does (besides beat women and snort/inject/smoke his drug of choice)? He's a glorified mitt holder.

The problem is that aside from Floyd, who does Roger have? Roach has Pacquiao, Khan, Chavez Jr, Martirosyan, etc.

Aside from Roach, the past ten years other trainer of the year recipients included: Enzo Calzaghe (Joe Calzaghe, Nathan Cleverly, Enzo Maccarinelli), Buddy McGirt (Antonio Tarver, Arturo Gatti, Lamon Brewster), Dan Birmingham (Winky Wright, Jeff Lacy, Chad Dawson).

IMO Floyd Sr. has more say in getting the trainer of the year award (Oscar De La Hoya, Lalia Ali, Chad Dawson, Joan Guzman) than Roger.

roger doesn't conduct himself well and therefore shouldn't expect any awards. I thought he was a brazen "i dont give a **** about the rules" kind of guy. I would expect him to just say take that award and put it in your ass because we are undefeated

Roger is a great trainer but has only 1 fighter. But then again, he basically taught floyd everything. They been together since floyd was like 13-14, floyd sr only taught him the basics then went off to prison. So roger may only have 1 fighter, but that 1 fighter he trained is also p4p #1 boxer in the world.

Did coach merc deserve a trainer of the year because of RJJ? No, because RJJ is the only successful fighter he trained.

Same reason Phil Jackson has only won one coach of the year and that was the season they had 72 wins.
