  • "Mayweather Is Scared" Marketing Tactic

Jr is scared, he's ducking... - I think Money Team are really business genuises.

And now they're using this on Canelo. I can't believe too many boxing fans fall for this when they asked the catchweight (is this confirmed?). I think all this cathweight BS is just to hype up Canelo - to let the casual fans believe that Canelo is really that great and is the one to beat him. And when this CW talk reach to the sky, Money team will drop CW request, fight signed, too many people believe his 0 will go and .... 2mil PPV Then Jr UD him 11-1.

IMO, there's no way Canelo will beat Mayweather now. Aside from his size, I can't see any other advantage for Canelo. If he can dominate Cotto, Lara and Trout (rematch), II'll gve him 40% chance.

I'm glad we still have people here that use their brain. It's the same tactic Arum used to promote Margarito, this time this fight is actually doable. Canelo will attempt to do something Mayweather couldn't do, which is take Cotto out (I actually like Cotto's chances somewhat) and the hype will be even stronger if Canelo is successful.

I hope its just a tactic and the fight will be made at 154.

Making people believe Floyd is truly afraid of Canelo is crucial to selling the fight in the numbers they will want to sell.

If you just add the fan bases together you could easily get the biggest fight since Floyd-Oscar, however to move beyond 1.6 or 1.7 they need more juice and the best way to do that is play on the preconceived notion that Floyd will naturally be afraid to fight Canelo.

The best way to con someone tell them what they want to hear and play to their preconceived ideas.

How can it be a "marketing tactic" if the 3 previous guys who everyone was claiming he was scared of he never fought! Its a "marketing tactic" if he actually fights them!

Nope History proves Mayweather is a ducker.

Maybe your theory would hold weight if this was the first time but its like 4 time now. Sorry try again.

This hypothesis will only be validated by Floyd signing a contract to face Canelo at 154.

That would be true, but you also know how dudes will switch on a dime from the Floyd is afraid to the Floyd must see weakness.

The fight did 1.4M, I honestly did not expect that, but perfect example right there.
