  • Comments Thread For: The NYSAC Retreats on Ivan Redkach

Faced with widespread criticism for its draconian punishment of Ivan Redkach, the New York State Athletic Commission has stepped back from the brink. With slightly more than a minute left in round eight of the January 25, 2020, fight at Barclays Center between Redkach and Danny Garcia, Ivan bit Danny just below the left side of his neck while the fighters were in a clinch. It wasn't much of a bite. Referee Benjy Esteves didn't notice it. Nor did the Showtime commentating crew. Redkach immediately extended his right glove in a gesture of apology and the fight went on.

Its possible this was a brainless/opportunistic cash grab. It seems more like a dry run to me though. Use some tool of an individual to feel out what is acceptable and not acceptable whilst seeing whose allegiances lie where. This will make the true crook behind the scenes sharper and more prepared for the next handful of times they come after someone’s money.

That's good to hear. Redkach worked too hard in camp to not get any of his purse.

I dont agree with the biting and a 10k fine is ok but to keep his entire purse was absurd he trained for the fight and fought the fight so good call on taking the punishment down a peg or 5

Agree with this. Finally someone makes a sensible decision.

Good for him. That was way too harsh.

            Danny didn't even ready care

LOL at the Mike Tyson reference.

Danny didn't even care so why hold the purse? I think that it is a fair decision.

Should the NYSAC not be investigated now for it's egregious and irrational actions in their initial fine, withholding of Redkach's purse and suspension?

That's an equitable resolution and begs the question: "What were NYSAC executive director Kim Sumbler and Jim Leary (who funnels directives to Sumbler from above) thinking when they imposed the original punishment?"
"What can we buy with 150k?"

Yeah, they'll pull the ol' "We investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing."

Each member on that panel should be made to train for months and fight a pro as good as Danny Garcia and not get paid jack sht see how it feels...

The Nevada Commission is just as bad. They want to ban an mma fighter for life for pleading the 5th and smoking MJ.

The bi@tch said she get disrespected so that’s why such a harsh punishment.
