It's almost pointless to point this obvious fact out now because it's clear some want to ignore because they are Floyd fans. No other person would ignore this.

Floyd and JMM were closer in size than Floyd vs Canelo, Oscar, or Baldomir. Floyd spent the last decade of his career, mostly fighting much bigger guys because he was chasing a challenge and the money. Floyd is 5-8 and could have spent his whole career KOing and shutting out 135 lb fighters, but he went and challenged himself. Floyd had maybe 5 pounds on JMM, that's a fair fight, and size had nothing to do with the result, Floyd used speed and skill to beat JMM. JMM is the one who called him out too, if he wouldn't have fought him his haters would be calling duck.

Floyd couldn't make the lower catch weight so he paid a fine and the fight went on, it still took place a legit weight limit. As others have pointed out, Floyd has had a verified weight of 150 lbs walking into the ring most of the last half of his career, it wasn't like he was re-hydrating to 165 like some welters do. Weight doesn't tarnish that win at all. Christ, some people were calling for Mayweather to fight GGG or even Andre Ward, but those same people get bent out of shape that he accepted JMM's challenge.

Tremendous performance. Marquez proved he was a quality WW a few years later by knocking out Pacquiao and competing with Bradley in a tight fight.

Floyd blowing off the catchweight was unnecessary though. Still at the WW limit, but he should have made 144. Oh well, definitely was a great performance even against a smaller fighter when you consider he was off for almost two years.

What a spectacular one sided display put on by Mayweather that fight. Marquez tried his best to get something going, even hit Mayweather with some very good shots, but Mayweather took them and smiled, but when Mayweather hit him, Marquez went TIMBER!!!!

Pacquaio went through 4 very tough wars with Marquez. It it only took Mayweather 1 fight.

Very underrated and overlooked win.

Gotta disagree with you, Marquez gave Floyd mad props.. do you read Spanish? Jose Luis Castillo deserved a draw at the min, he beat Floyd in my opinion.

Trinidad was a good win for BHop regardless of what people say now. Let's not ignore facts and how BHop was a decent sized underdog heading into that fight. Trinidad had just destroyed another top 5 MW in Joppy the fight prior.

Fair point on Marquez working on his body afterwards. But doesn't mean it wasn't a tremendous performance by Floyd. Tremendous performance =/= tremendous win.
