  • Comments Thread For: Victor Ortiz-Shane Mosley in Play For August/September

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that a welterweight fight between "Sugar" Shane Mosley and Victor Ortiz is being discussed for August or September.

"I think both guys have a lot to prove," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com. "I think it's an evenly matched fight -- half will pick Mosley, half Ortiz. Mosley really proved himself in Mexico against Pablo Cesar Cano, so I think it would be an intriguing fight."

Mosley (47-8-1, 39 KOs) came out of retirement in May, scoring his first win since 2009, a unanimous decision victory over Cano.

Put it on Mayweather-Alvarez undercard. I'll watch. Ortiz will be rusty, but will have more than enough, just on activity alone to beat Sugarfree Shane.

Well to be honest, stylistically Shane has the advantage

He certainly could win if he has enough left

        That's just not likely

Not a bad match up. Ortiz has power but hasn't won a fight since Berto in 2011. Mosley is old but is still a veteran guy that can make it interesting. Put on the Mayweather/Canelo undercard or on Showtime and people will watch.

You can only pick one Rome, which would rather see, Bradley decision Marquez in a FOTY or Mosley absolutely drill Ortiz?
