Canelo already drew over 1m PPV this year alone without GGG. Even a showcase fight against a nobody who has never fought on US soil or on US tv drew DOUBLE the PPVs of GGG's career high. Canelo is the CLEAR 100% no doubt A side here.
He's the A side but you're nuts if you think Golovkin didn't help the number

If this is true then that's concrete evidence that both Golovkin and Canelo NEED each other. The public won't tolerate **** fights from them.

Golovkin is getting stopped in a rematch, so it doesn't matter

I agree. GGG is not a mainstream name nor a large ppv draw but a lot of people that I knew that bought the fight did so because they saw it as a dangerous fight for Canelo. In other words a good fight and good fights usually sell.

Of course he helped you need an opponent with a combination of name and who you can sell as a threat to beat you to sell PPVs. Saying Canelo drew 300K with smith as a knock is like trying to laugh at Mayweather drawing 400K with berto. Similar fights against guys that NOBODY else could get away with fighting on PPV and still they did double and triple other guys doing in their career best PPVs. But these numbers just like the chavez numbers are first and foremost about Canelo he has TWO 1 mil PPV fights this year, one had nothing to do with GGG. Chavez drew 400K buys at the peak of his popularity against sergio and his last fight was on Bein Sports Espanol before he fought Canelo. GGG last fight did anywhere between 110-170K PPVs and that's his career high before he fought Canelo. One person is clearly the common denominator and has already sold monster PPV numbers before fighting either guy and it ain't GGG. He helped but it's about Canelo.
