DAZN's main competitor is Disney's moves, but then again, DAZN for the moment is branded as a Sports only. Canelo is a true commodity for DAZN. He has a huge Hispanic American following, and as he continues to win, hopefully, worldwide subscribers jump on the wagon. It's rather simple, and we're specifically just talking about boxing.
As time goes on more people will be gravitating toward getting these apps and cutting back on attending live events, especially those in the 18-35 age range. They're not going to spend much time outside of their home area to watch games...shoot that's why live attendance is down across the board for sports here.

You don’t understand the USA market.

Canelo isn’t going to make dazn competitive with ESPN (or the other networks with NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL programming). Not here.

I don't get the argument that they need more sports to be competitive at $20 a month.

How much have you paid for PPV fights this year? DAZN is already competitive - in fact, it's cheaper.

If they get more sports, you won't be paying $20 any more.

You’re naive. We’re talking about boxing. DAZN’s metrics will beat ESPN+ solely on boxing. It’s about roster.

Now if you want to bring up the NFL or NBA, again? DAZN just recently lost a couple hundred million bid to BT for the Champions League. You think football isn’t a selling machine in Europe or Worldwide? As revenues gain traction, more rights for different sports. Point is DAZN will have the funds for it. It’s a matter of time when DAZN’s offers, partnerships or future bids will win over others in obtaining rights. I don’t even care for those things.

We’re just talking about boxing, not the dumb LDBC narratives that DAZN doesn’t show movies like Netflix, Showtime, or Disney+ or the NFL, NBA... all gay theories. In time DAZN will be running tingz trill mayne!

I’m talking about the U.S. sports market and Dazn’s place and possible future in it.

Boxing isn’t going to give them a meaningful market share. They went with boxing because it was a chance for them to try to get some visibility in the U.S. until major pro (and college) sports contracts are possible.

Once they get those, if they do, they have a chance. But then they’ll shove boxing to the side because why spend millions upon millions of satisfy a very small percentage of the U.S. market?

The fact that they failed to get Champions League is NOT a good thing for them in that market. You can’t celebrate that as a win because ‘well look how much money that leaves them to spend’ ... on what?

And if they don’t get the major sports in the USA, they won’t still be here in the USA. The clock is ticking.

the relevance of America in the boxing game, as far as dazn are concerned, is primarily about the sports betting doors it opens to their owners aswell as to become the centre stage for boxing, to promote it to the rest of the world.

it isnt about US subscribers specifically. US is still a big country but the east asia, middle east and european markets are far bigger.

have you seen the popularity of the English premier league, globally?
boxing is way better than football/soccer. the way the EPL grew in popularity over 20 years in east asia, india, africa and the middle east, shows that boxing can be huge in these markets.

Good for them. I just hope they stay consistent with Boxing and stick to their model.

Please read what I said — U.S. market

Dazn may have a great future globally, but it will not in the USA based on boxing. It needs major pro sports leagues and college conference deals or it’s dead.
