It would look like Duran vs. Arguello. No one really regrets that that one didn't happen.
Tunney's not the firebrand that Dempsey was, but his style makes that a fun fight. Louis will probably hit the deck more than once. Tunney will never be truly out of danger of Louis' fight-ending combinations. I favor Tunney based on styles, but Louis is soooo much more proven at Heavyweight that Tunney can only be a slight favorite even though he's all wrong for Louis.Last edited by Rusty Tromboni; 11-17-2019, 01:08 PM.

As someone else said, this fight DID happen: Walker-Greb.
Duran-Leonard II would have unseated it, but Duran s h i t the bed. That probably would be the fight I'd make: Duran of the first fight vs. Leonard of the rematch. Leonard's an underdog but a damn game one.
Other than that, the easiest answer: ANY of the legendary Lightweights against another. Doesn't matter who. If it's two great Lightweights, you have the potential for unparalleled magic.
You can't go wrong just pulling two names blindly from a hat. Maybe not always Ward-Gatti'esque. But definitely competitive and compelling.
Anyway, I also like the opportunity to see fighters from different eras show how the sport has changed. Along with exctiement and greatness, I like matches that would display how the sport has developed.
