What boxing fans don't realise is how difficult it is for great amateurs to transition to the pro's. It's an entirely different game for some.
We have seen it time and time again with Zou Shiming, Frankie Gavin, Felix Diaz etc.

People say it's unimpressive that Lomachenko won a world title in his third fight because of all his amateur experience...but those guys are clueless. How many great amateurs can you name that did this? How many even stay on top?

Only the real special fighters can do such a thing. Robeisy Ramirez can come back, but I'm not confident about it.

Bumchenko should thank Orlando Salidoe for losing the vacant WBO featherweight title on the scales too, otherwise he ( Bumchenko ) would of never fought Gary Russell nor become a 'world-champion' -- what a clown.

I agree with you in principle. Loma did have 6 quasi pro fights ( no head gear , 10 pt must system but counted as amateur as part of the AIBA) that didn’t count against his record. This wasn’t the case with Ramirez.

Loma is a great boxer but he lost fair and square. His promoter, the same as Ramirez’, put them in fights they were expected to win but they lost. Happens to a lot of newly turned pros.

Give Loma credit for his wins but let’s stop trying to excuse away the Salido loss or mitigate it. Salido was just the better man that night.

Yeah I just checked BoxRec. Ramirez had 16 WBSS fights. Another excuse struck down.
