Mayweather would eventually lose in an era with good big welters. As great as he is simply too small. 47 is not his prime weight in the era of day before weigh-in's, where welters routinely come in at 60.

I am curiuous about Ward. Who does Starling have in mind? Hagler? The spectacular crop of mw-smw appears shortly after Starling's time. Or am I mistaken? 75 was weak at the time.

AGree 100%. From a competititve standpoint, both fighters would have faced more complete opponents so its likely they may have lost.

That said. I think if fights still went 15 rounds, it would be actually more beneficial to both Ward and Mayweather. They fight smart, dont waste punches, and pace themselves well enough that they are still frsh in the championship rounds. I think they would both have more KO victories.

Cotto left Arum and got the PBF fight. Now we will truly never know if PBF would have fought Cotto pre-Margarito and Manny if he wasn't with Arum.

Then you have Arum flat out saying he kept Chavez jr away from Martinez for years and we saw what he did with the Gamboa vs Juan Ma Lopez fight but PBF ducked Arum's whole stable and Arum played no part in any of that is what too many of yall want people to believe. PBF is no where near perfect but all the blame some of yall try to place on him just makes no damn sense at all.
well said, i personally dont believe ducked any1 apart from p.willy... and the enitre division ducked him too

mosley didnt want it when floyd called him out in his prime... mosley then finally enters the ring after the pbf fight as the no1 welter and floyd fights him... yet everyone *****es that he was too old... but old enough to offer floyd out or demolish margo or have floyd hurt in round 2

floyd was due to fight cotto but becoz he embarrassed brussles arum didnt wanna make that fight..... even cotto admitted that he did nothing to make that fight back in the day... so he goes up in weight (154) to fight a younger champion but all of a sudden its too late... but at the sametime they cheer when it was slightly competitive in the middle rounds

as for margo -does any1 REALLY think he would have beat floyd?? seriously??

but people would rather complain and ***** either that he didnt fight x,y or z or that he didnt fight x,y or z at the right time !!! rofl gtfo

A better question is what light-heavy does Ward see beating him, it would help explain why he doesn't move up or even fight at a catch-weight.

I like Ward but people need to stop giving fighters credit for fights they haven't fought, let him go up and show he's better than the light-heavies.
So Ward should move up to 175lbs to prove he's good but you're the one constantly crying that Hatton wasnt fighting Floyd at his best weight and had to move up ?? Double standards double standards.

All are opponents that could, and would, present their own unique set of very difficult challenges for Floyd. It's one of the deepest pools ever at 147 and Floyd would come out with a loss somewhere if he fought all the top guys.

He is not unbeatable. At 147, against these guys, incredibly skilled, hard fighters that make 147 today look utterly pissweak, he would have hard fights against every opponent above.

Buddy McGirt would lose and so would Milton but the others were kinda big
