  • Avid music listeners, recommend me a pair of headphones

For awhile I've been using Turtle Beach X1s for XBox 360 for my music listening, but I can only use it at home as it requires a USB and 20-30 earphones just aren't cutting it for my taste. I've never invested $ into a good pair of headphones and wanted some recommendations of what people actually use as there are just too many reviews to read through with many headphones at the same price.

I'm looking to spend no more than $150 right now preferably for now a 70-100$ set would do nice. I'm looking into this new brand of headphones, House of Marley currently.

    Any suggestions?

They seem real damn nice, but man I feel like dropping $100 I'd rather get overhead headphones. I'll keep this in mind.

it really depends on the music you most listen to mate...

for rock, metal or trip-hop it would be very hard to top sennheiser HD25-1... solid bass response and really clean voices... weakness isn't really much of a deal breaker... soundstage tends to become narrow and cramped... but who needs a wide soundstage for metal anyway?

house and club music makes the aiaiai TMA-1 punch well above it's weight class... great pair to consider for such genres...

the pairs with the widest genre bandwidth would be audio-technica's M50 for the budget conscious and audeze's LCD2 for those willing to shell out more...

Audio Technica ATH-M50. Are the best headphones out there for under 150 bar none. Not the bassiest headphones but not bad when pairing with a decent amp.
