  • Troy Ross vs. Yoan Pablo Hernandez discussion thread

Good fight on Saturday, for the Ring cruiserweight belt.

And there's two fairly interesting undercard matchups: Gerber vs. Sprott and Mateusz Masternak vs. David Quinonero (27-0).

I'll bump this on Saturday when the undercard starts.

For now, any predictions or comments?

Anyone know what type of numbers Hernandez does over there in Germany?

I still don't understand how Cunningham winning a vacant belt via thumb in eye against Ross qualified the Cunningham vs Hernandez fight for the RING Title.

Good question. They seem to love Yoan Pablo over there. He's working it, too...even got a part playing Joe Lewis in the Schmeling flick. I got a real kick in the head hearing him speak German in an interview after a fight. My eyes crossed. lol It was almost surreal hearing this Cubanito speaking the language.

It wasn't the Ross bout, it was USS YPH 1. They were then ranked 1 and 2 after Huck was prematurely removed from the rankings for fighting at HW

He can do it, unless he's declined.

Ross is 37 years-old. Yoan Pablo will turn 28 next month. Hernandez has youth on his side. It's not like he's a weak fighter with nothing else going for him. And it's not like Troy is the cruiserweight version of Hopkins or Vitali. I think age will be a definite factor here.

I'm not going to deny that Hernandez is clearly the favorite.

But Yoan Pablo's a bit chinny and Ross is heavy-handed.

I'm taking Ross for the upset. I picked Hernandez both times he fought Cunningham, but I'm not wholly impressed by him. I think he's there for the taking, and Ross will crack that chin.
