Any of these teams that might pick up a couple good players will have to rebuild a team. To afford two big free agents they have to make cap room and that means letting other players go(cutting or trading to make cap room).

So next year would be part of the growing process. After they get a team built around them they would hope to get a few extra good players that will take less money to play on a team thats a contender.
