  • Mayweather vs Marquez | Ultimate Highlights! (Master Boxer)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFJeLyKumk0

One of the best performance of Money May. Marquez counter punches were ineffective against Floyd. I don't blame Pacquiao's team for not accepting the fight in 2009-2010. Mayweather would have school and ended the hype train.

Terrible styles match up for JMM and obviously the size disparity made it worse. But even the JMM that KOd by Pac gets schooled by Floyd.

If you want to sit back and counter against Floyd and make it into a chess match, ala Canelo? Yeah, good luck bearing him.

Mikey Garcia who is similar has said many times that Floyd in his prime would kill him. Now, Floyd is also his favorite fighter but I think he knows Floyd's style would be killer for him.

so the fact that Marquez went up by 2 divisions and would wind up getting cheated at the scales by floyd for not making the contracted weight had nothing to do with it....oooookkkk

Honestly, Floyd just had a TERRIBLE style for him. Bradley who is not on Floyd's level was able to out box JMM and even when we go back to Freddie Norwood he was able to do the same. And no surprise, Chris John who has no problem stinking out the joint and moving was able to beat him as well. JMM is not a natural pressure fighter and he likes to sit back and counter. Well, how are you going to beat Floyd in that game when he is bigger, faster, quicker and just flat out better? That is Floyd's game right there. If you have faster hands than Floyd then sure, you can have some success and force Floyd to come to you. But if he is the guy with the quicker hands and you want to fight at distance? You are going to lose....and lose badly. To trouble Floyd you better take it to him and maul him at every opportunity. JMM's style is not that and quite frankly he doesn't have the size to implement that style against Floyd anyways.

It’s a style mess for Marquez but yeah the fact Marquez was at 126 age 33 whereas Floyd had settled into 147 in his 20s even fighting at 154 the size difference was huge. Marquez had barely got to 135 with two fights then to go up two more divisions? That’s why this fight doesn’t even register even though it’s one of the two great fighters Floyd ever fought.

Fight was never relevant. Jmm fight was one step above fighting a ufc fighter. OP is an idiot

Marquez doesn’t do as well when he is forced to chase guys but the Norwood and John fights were robberies. The John one being particularly egregious. Marquez managed to beat Wheeler, Gainer, Polo and others too when forced to chase. The Bradley one has as much to do with him not really being suited to 147 and being 40. I know he did well vs. Pacquaio there but that was a styles thing plus Pacquaio was small too and Marquez had prior experience with him.
