"Indian people are uneducated about sports overall. Other than cricket, most Indians have no clue that you can be a millionaire by playing sports like basketball and soccer. Even in cricket there is no organized system to build talent. But even still there are many indian wrestlers and boxers in the Olympics and India also has the biggest vegan body builder in the world his name is Varinder Ghuman. Also India doesn't support its athletes whether its from sponsorships or from the government like China. They don't put any value behind sports."

which is sad because there is a lot of talent in india....

it can be used to create valuable industries that can uplift a lot of people from poverty which something an overpopulated nation can use to its advantage.

not everybody can be smart. not everybody can go to school.

a sport like boxing should be big in india.

baseball, MMA, hell american football.

The olympics these days has a lot to do with how much money you spend on it.

Outside the few major events most sports don't have a professional league or comp.

So a rower or shooter who has money to pay for the best coaches dietitians etc and train full time is going to win over just a natural talent who has to work and train himself.

Look at GB, 1 gold in 1996, then put money into it and killing it now.

Aus dos they same thing after 1976 getting 1 medal, spent cash and did great but now other, bigger countries are also doing it they have gone back a bit.

They also target obscure sports that don't have a lot of competiton.

Outside cricket they have probably no sport tradition whatoever. Even in countries like England that have a pretty large Indian population you still never really see any brits of Indian descent representing the UK.
