    Similar styles.

One had loads of power and explosive speed. The other had incredible skill, discipline, and the ability to take control of an even match.

Who wins? Who loses? Rematches? Would we like to see a story of this?

Tyson KO 1. Worse than Liston beat up Patterson. Patterson was tailor made for someone who hit hard, and came forward - and had a good chin. Liston proved it, Tyson would annihalte Patterson, 10 out of 10 times.

Tyson by KO in the 1st sounds about right, not only because of the stylistic/physical/atrributes advantages of Mike, but also giving some consideration to Patterson's sometime fragile mindset or lack of confidence...I could easily see Floyd attempting to do what he did for the early portions of his fight with Chuvalo by trying to outbox Tyson from the outside, but this time it would be more out of fear rather than trying to gain the best style matchup. Patterson did show at times that it would take a few knockdowns to get him out of there, so if might make it to the second round after suffering a couple in the first. But...Ah, poor Floyd!

The only chance I really gave Patterson was if he would have lost his temper against Mike. It's true that Floyd was intimidated in several key matchups, but he did lose it from time to time (Johansson II), and suddenly, he had some major aggression. He described it as feeling a genuine hatred for his opponent, and when that happened, he attacked. Unfortunately for him, that didn't happen often; he also tried to avoid fighting aggressively. He preferred to circle his opponent and look for openings. Probably not the best strategy for a peek-a-boo style. Muhammad Ali did say that Patterson was the most skilled fighter he ever went up against, however, so we can't rule him out. Could this have been a good brawl.....?

          Tyson in 1 or 2.

tyson is not liston and patterson is not michael spinks, so patterson would last more than one round. probably tyson would win in the third round.

Yes, you are right. Tyson is not Sonny Liston. He was a faster starter, and put more pressure on. Tyson KO's Floyd quicker than Sonny.

What has Michael Spinks got to do with anything? Since you brought him up - I don't think Liston would stop him until the 8th or 9th round.

This would be over really quick, with the bigger, faster and stronger Mike Tyson brutally knocking out Floyd Patterson.

                Mike Tyson by ko1.

Patterson lasts as long as it takes Tyson to land clean. If Patterson runs then he might avoid defeat until the 3rd round but a prime Tyson will hit him at some point, and it doesn't take much to KO Patterson!
