Does anyone here watch that show on HBO called The Fight Game? Jim Lampley hosts it. He mentions modern boxing news stories and then at the end of every show they do a current list of the most exciting fighters called The Gatti List. When Larry Merchant announced his retirement, they had him on the show to make his own all-time Gatti list, with some of the names here mentioned. So thanks for starting this thread because I was thinking of starting a similar one, except I was going to call it who would you put on your all-time Gatti List. Another one I feel I must mention is:
Marvelous Marvin Hagler
If you're talking slick or flashy boxers or ones with good defense that could outsmart most opponents I'd also add, along with Robinson:
Whitaker
Sugar Ray Leonard
Mayweather

As always not one mention of Les Darcy, he was one of the most exciting fighters ever, the kid was pure dynamo and he simply would not ever get mentioned here if I died.. If I die I feel that his name will be just forgotten and the only reasons for this are... long ago... he is an Australian and not American so he MUST have been overated somehow, we he is not overated, he is in fact THE MOST UNDERATED Boxer in this entire forum. I get criticized by some posters for mentioning him a lot, well the more he is ignored, the more I will promote the name. I am gonna say now that I think he is top 5 MW of all time and he would simply blow most of these bigger names to hell. It's time you lot did some reading. AND watch the films------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------- As for the names listed so far I agree with them being there of course, maybe nobody knows what kind of attraction Les was, well no fighter in history had a bigger fanfare arrival in the history of the United States of America... in those days, is it really likely that he would not be exciting ?.. he was so exciting that stadiums were always full.Last edited by McGoorty; 03-31-2013, 11:51 PM.
