So this dumb b!tch wants to blame hunger and rent on the recent spike in murders and violent crime across the city...

AOC on NYC Crime Wave: “Shoplift Some Bread”
      International Business Times:

Coronavirus Unemployment Surge Forces People To ‘Shoplift Some Bread’, AOC Says

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims the wave of gun violence ripping the city apart isn’t caused by calls to defund police
She believes hungry residents are forced to shoplift in order to “feed their child”
NYPD Chief of Department Terry Monahan said the crime surge is being driven by animosity toward police officers, the George Flyod protests and bail reform
The horrific surge in crimes and violence ripping New York City apart for the past few months can also be put down to poor people resorting to theft to feed their families, and isn’t the direct result of calls to defund the police, argues New York City Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D).

In an online town hall meeting Thursday, Ocasio-Cortez was asked about the rise in NYC crimes. According to the representative, hungry residents are forced to shoplift in order to “feed their child.”

“Maybe this has to do with the fact that people aren’t paying their rent and are scared to pay their rent and so they go out, and they need to feed their child and they don’t have money, so they feel like they either need to shoplift some bread or go hungry,” according to Ocasio-Cortez.

So where are the loving parents of these kids are being shot in the city? Do their kids lives not matter? Or only when hurt or killed by police?

A 20-year-old man was fatally shot inside a Brooklyn building — and at least three others were hurt as ******* broke out across the city early Monday, according to police.

The Brooklyn man was shot multiple times in the head and torso in the lobby of a building on Williams Avenue near Stanley Avenue in Canarsie just before 3 a.m., cops said.

He was rushed to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released pending family notification.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting were unclear Monday morning, and no one has been arrested in connection to the slaying.

In Staten Island, a 31-year-old man was shot in both legs following a dispute on Castleton Avenue in West Brighton around 3:15 a.m.

The suspect fled on foot, and the victim was rushed to Richmond University Hospital in stable condition.

About two hours earlier, a 40-year-old man was shot once in the right arm during another scuffle on Lexington Avenue near Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant. That suspect also took off, and the victim was taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

A few minutes before that, a 29-year-old woman was struck by a bullet in the right shoulder at 113th Avenue and Murdock Avenue in Jamaica, cops said.

She told police that she heard shots and felt pain. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in stable condition.

The incidents cap a violent night, during which a 1-year-old boy was fatally shot during a cookout near the Raymond Bush Playground on Madison Street and Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 11:35 p.m. Sunday.

        Three other men were wounded.

Also on Sunday night, two boys, ages 12 and 15, were injured in separate shootings in Brooklyn and Harlem.

Fifteen others were wounded in shootings on Saturday.

At least 17 people were shot in New York City on Monday — a tally that would be considered high for a weekend day, but is “astronomical” for early in the week, law enforcement sources said.

No borough was spared from the gunplay, but Brooklyn saw the most violence with 10 shooting incidents and a total of 12 victims, sources said.

“Those numbers would be high for a Friday or Saturday, but for a Monday they are astronomical,” said one high-ranking Brooklyn cop.

Seven of those shot in Brooklyn, including a 20-year-old man who was fatally blasted, were hit in five separate incidents in the borough’s 69th Precinct, which covers the Canarsie neighborhood, according to police and sources.

New York City was like Chicago or worse in the 1970s and early 1980s. Rudy Guiliani came in as mayor and cleaned up the city, followed by Michael Bloomberg who continued the tough policing. That’s all changed now. There is no bail for many crimes and criminals are released without charges. Many crimes are ignored by the order of the mayor and his city council. Even those criminals who burned and looted minority businesses go free.

The city District Attorney Cy Vance told his staff in a memo that they should go easy on the protesters/rioters but he wants investigations into the police.

Vance is way out of the mainstream and should not be a District Attorney. For example, he believes in not having any cash bail for ANY crime. He thinks it’s unfair.

Police don’t know how they can arrest people. They know what they can’t do but not what they can do, as more criminals are released early from prison and crime soars.
This is the same DA in court as we speak seeking Trump's tax returns.

Black people voted for these very politicians, at rates of about 100%.

                  Let's them suffer.

Tell them to dig more graves and build more memorials for their children.

They should be happy, they got what they voted for they. They 'won', and this is the fruits of their victory.

This is an awful take. People vote in elected officials because there's an assumption that they (the politicians) are acting in good faith. Also, I'm not sure that there are a lot of other voting options in terms of candidates.

"Let them suffer" is a vengeful sentiment to have. The citizens who voted in DiBlasio had no way of knowing that he would defund the police department when he was campaigning for mayor.
