You're absolutely right. Rigo is one of the most overrated fighters in the world who's living off one win 3 or 4 years ago. He has done absolutely nothing besides that one win - a bunch of barely top20 contenders, if that.

I love the morons in this thread "Loma hasn't beaten anyone as good yet." Except he embarassed Walters, who destroyed Donaire as well.

You have to be a complete imbecile to claim that Rigo's resume is better than Lomachenko's. Eye test? Sure, that's subjective. Resume? Get outta here.

rigo is a once in a lifetime talent, he was black balled... he had one boring fight where his opponent didn't engage and another where he took the fight on 2 weeks notice, outside of that hes breaking jaws and eye sockets, destroying his opponents with skill. no need to slam rigo or loma they are both the real deal. just wish rigo got pushed more!

Loma has not defeated any boxer as highly regarded. Added to that his loss to Salido suggests his style needs to be tweaked when in with above average bigger men with a lot of pro experience.

Honestly it feels like this is another one of your coded passive bait threads. Maybe it isn't since you are just off a ban.
What's interesting to me is Donaire was highly regarded. However, after that loss to Rigo, he never did much besides beat one-dimensional Darchinyan. And of course, he had his ass handed to him by Walters, whom Lomachenko made quit. Vasyl lost his second pro fight to warhorse Salido, but has since put on some increasingly skillful shows. This kid is special. I agree that we must see how he fares with some of the top tier guys.

Rigo is a highly skilled fighter, but not a very entertaining one to watch & a frustrating one to fight. There are fighters who don't want to fight him and fans who don't want to watch him.

No doubt that Loma is special. I just think Hype Job's passive bait thread is unfair because rigo got ranked so high because Donaire was where he was (even though I personally thought that ranking was somewhat high).

Then, post Donaire, he got blackballed (because he cost HBO and TR their investment in Nonito) so the people that rank p4p fighters never moved him down because of this, which IMO is fair.

If this was 20 years ago, Rigo would be given the star treatment after such a big win and would've gotten the kinds of fights that would give him the chance to erase any questions about him.

You think Rigo got blackballed because he beat Donaire? This is a business, and if Rigo's style would have been considered consistently entertaining enough and thus a money maker, he would have been made a star. HBO & TR bet too much on Donaire prematurely, not recognizing his weaknesses. He's a boxer/puncher who can be out-boxed & out-punched.

Whats with all the aggressiveness? i havent found 1 guy saying Rigo has better resume then Loma , P4P is just a list a guy makes and can do as he pleases if ppl go by the "eye test" they put their fav fighters and if they go by actual resume and fights then they get a different list all together.
Rigo is an AMAZING BOXER how can he be "overrated" ? the other guys on his weight classes just out right without shame DUCKED HIM and said so , he is small and he is very old , he aint filling that frame.
Also who is hyping rigo ? all of the ppl here always break his balls , the guy is UNDER rated if anything , amazing amateur career , amazing pro boxer.
Loma is the same , amazing !!!!! and he is also bigger so he is instantly becomes a bigger star with better "mega fights" down the road.
Note that small weight division are much more pruned to age deterioration and him at his age still being at the top is not easy.
tldr- both are amazing , I rarely find ppl overhyping Rigo , if anything he is underrated , Loma is an amazing talent as well !!

Not in this era. HBO blackballed him. Their corporate partner, ESPN, calls him boring every week. If you put him in with guys that try to win, the excitement will take care of itself.

And when did excitement become the benchmark in boxing over competition?

If you put two fighters on the same level in against each other excitement will take care of itself because you have 2 equally matched opponents competing against one another.Instead, we have HBO marketing "excitement" which is really them giving their signed guys opponents who will bleed or get KTFO.

Is watching someone you know face an opponent that has no chance to win "exciting"? Not to me. If it is for you, OK, to each his own.

I want fighters in competitive fights more than I want to see my favorite guys get easy KO's.
