A Turkish official was quoted as saying by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz that the eastern Mediterranean will “no longer be a place where Israeli naval forces can freely exercise their bullying practices against civilian vessels." A more aggressive strategy will be pursued by the country’s navy, the official vowed, saying that all civilian ships carrying aid to Palestinians in Gaza will be escorted by the Turkish navy. Another goal of the new strategy is reportedly to ensure free navigation between Cyprus and Israel
