  • Martinez: "Golovkin will be the middleweight king in a few years"

Which fighter current stands out in your weight class?
Martinez: Currently the boxer who's hitting the hardest is the kazakhstani Golovkin, who's emerging as a rival to be reckoned with. I think in a few years he will be the middleweight king.

    Is there a possible showdown?

Martinez: First, I have to fight Murray. Right now I'm not thinking of anyone else. Once that fight is finished, we can talk about Golovkin peacefully.

Good to hear Martinez praise GGG.
    Big respects to Sergio.

Martinez and his camp sound scared.

Wouldn't be surprised if they retired without ever fighting GGG.

How did you get that out of what he said there? It sounded to me like he is focused on Murray and said 3G talks could be entertained after that fight.

People are reaching man, Sergio has nothing to fear from 3G, he would beat him to a pulp.

I think it would be his hardest fight to date if it happened...

Sounds like Martinez still plans a few more years in the sport.

Nah, the Williams I fight was, took it on two weeks' notice and moved up in weight. 3G is good but he gets hit fairly easy and the way Rosado made his face swell and bruise up, I think his face would get messed up against Sergio.

I am sure that 3G would be competitive and land some shots but I think he would be eating straight lefts like candy and his face would fail him. I realize what he did to Rosado but that was a cut. After the fight, his faced looked about as bad as 3G's once the blood was wiped away.
