  • Tyson Deserve More Credit For Botha KO

People have been talking a lot about how Wilder showed so much guts and came back from being beaten up and almost stopped to win against Ortiz. Fair enough, he did, and Ortiz showed guts, too.

But Tyson has always been criticized for "never being able to come back after being hurt" etc.... Well in the Botha fight, first fight coming off a 2 year suspension, he was getting his ass kicked and it was looking like it was going to be an embarrassment and he came back and KO'd Botha, much more impressively than Wilder KO'd anyone ever. And Tyson also KO'd Douglas arguably in that fight, or at least came back and showed he had what it took to come back under tremendous adversity. You could also throw in the Quick Tillis fight, and even the 2nd fight with Razor Ruddock.

That wasn't exactly adversity. He wasn't getting his ass kicked by Botha, he simply lost the first four rounds by doing nothing. And he was coming back after 1.5 years off and not 2 years.

All it took was one punch and Botha was done and it may have been the only punch Tyson landed in five rounds.

The White Buffalo was aptly named. Big, fat, and slow. Plodding forward with decent power. But prior to Tyson his biggest fight was a stoppage loss to Moorer. After Tyson he was pummeled by every big name he stepped up to. In hindsight not a great win but no less of a win than Wilder's win over Ortiz who was also unproven.

Tyson was being outboxed not being beaten up. Also Tyson tried fouling out in this bout as well (tried breaking Botha's arm). It was another example of his lack of will to win. Great KO punch however. Dynamite.

With Lou he kept punching after the ref jumped in to wave it off and I think the ref got caught with a piece of a shot.

Like someone mentioned Tyson was gonna foul out of that fight as well. He was on the verge of another breakdown.

That was not a fight where he overcame adversity.

He did overcome the complexion of the buffalo, who had a fine one indeed whose glare made it hard to place his shots.

Did the buffalo and the foul pole ever fight? Too lazy to look it up. Those two could have fought for the world's white heavyweight title. I think there should be one of those the way there used to be a colored championship. Let the white heavyweights see how a belt feels. Fury held it for less than a fight. That has to be a record. Morrison was the last great white hope, and he turned out to be a steroid bull with AIDS.

                  That's entertaining stuff lol

Botha was never in a dull fight
Could hear him screaming when Tyson grabbed his arm

Come on Hook , give a South Africa heavyweight a break, don't forget the late Corrie Sanders beat down he put on Wladamir. Also the legendary Gerrie Coetzee held a heavyweight title, and one of the all time great Mustaches. Lol.
