  • Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr Does 403,000 UK Buys

Okay, I'll admit I was dead wrong on this. I figured that Joshua was going to do close to a million buys regardless of the opponent and the time of the fight. Legit thought he would get to the 800-900k range.

Of course, if the rematch takes place in the UK it will do MASSIVE numbers...Maybe in the 1.5-1.7M range.

Wait. Parker aj did over 1.4mil buys??

Anyway, good numbers for a fight on at 4am against what the public thought was a guy who had no chance to win

Shows aj is still a huge star

Those are decent numbers for a fight against a lesser name happening in the middle of the night in the UK.

Looks like the BARB figures only show Sky Sports PPV numbers.

Maybe one of the Brits on this site would know more?

              Fake news.

Sky is yet to release the numbers.

Hamed was a MONSTER draw, considering the time his numbers took place. He really put the little guys on the map.

If it is true then they are fantastic numbers. Obviously the haters are going to spin a yarn and forget to mention this was in the middle of the night but with that in mind those are great numbers. It certainly shows the difference in him compared to Wilder. Wilder did less PPV's than that against Ortiz on American prime time and Americans on this very forum said they wouldnt pay to watch Wilder fight in any other time zone than a regular Saturday night prime time showing. Well nearly half a million Brits were prepared to stay up all night and pay to watch it on PPV even in this era of illegal streaming.

YES ANTHONY JOSHUA LOST. But if we are talking box office power Anthony Joshua is still the man. Yes it didnt do great in America but Americans dont even bother turning up to watch Americans so it has to be labelled a dead or dying market now.
