Frazier was not at his best but Bugner probably was. This was Frazier's first fight after losing his title one-sidedly to George Foreman in Jamaica, Bugner on the other hand was coming off a fairly competitive 12 round decision loss to Muhammad Ali.

Thanks for this post Manchine, this was the only time I got to see Frazier (a favourite of mine) live. I don't think I have ever seen the fight since so will enjoy this. Was a good showing from Bugner although no argument with verdict. Bugner was a frustrating fighter so many gifts but something was missing, heart maybe?
