Both are about as good defensively as can be. They rely as much on defense as offense to win. Since hiring Steward Wlad just hasn't been cracked hard, sans the Peter fight. PBF has a swifter style of defense that actually calls on his guys to attack him so he can counter. Wlad doesn't allow guys to attack him at all, perhaps since he can't afford to. Take your stance on why one is better than the other. Maybe Wlad simply because PBF's style of defense opens the window for him to be outworked, even if he doesn't actually get hit.

Both got sick D. In their own ways I say both are gr8 defensive fighters.

Thing is, Wlad actually uses offense as defense. He don't always throw his jab to land it. He's tall enuf wit long enuf reach that he can keep guys off him and rest just by jabbin. Guy gets a lil too close for him, he ties em up quickly. Wlad does a good job parrying punches too. Basic defender, but a good one.

Mayweather is a slickster who uses movement for his defense. Not many guys can lay on the ropes and let their guy flurry without takin a lotta the punches. As a quick fighter, Mayweather ain't gotta just block, he can elude. When he mixes punches in combination into his defensive movement, he's gr8 to watch.
