Third, reparations is not about blaming white people. It's about acknowledging that America was wrong for it's treatment of black people and making amends for the wrong it's done.

Fourth, the natives are damn near extinct mostly due to DISEASES. Plus, some natives HAVE BEEN OFFERED REPARATIONS.

Fifth, you mentioned the Jews and the holocaust. You do realize that the Jews received reparations for the holocaust, don't you????

You should do some research before you mouth off about shlt you clearly don't understand.

Oh, and for the last time...NOT ALL SLAVES IN AMERICA WERE SLAVES IN AFRICA OR SOLD BY AFRICAN TRIBES. You dudes have no knowledge of what you speak of.

      Ps. Enjoy your ban.
      Exceptional post.

Let's not forget about Frederick Douglas Patterson (born 1871-1932), who was an American entrepreneur, the first American to manufacture cars, and known for the Greenfield-Patterson automobile of 1915, built in Ohio.

I could go on and on about the medical contributions made by slaves that were swept under the carpet.

But back to the subject at hand, Holocaust victims got more than 52 - 89 billion dollars in reparations since the end of WWII.

      • Most people don't know that in 1849, The California Gold Rush was kept as a white only chance to profit. It was reported that over 200 million dollars worth of gold was extracted. Blacks traveled to California, but were blocked from participating in the Gold Rush by laws and white vigilante violence. The intentional exclusion of blacks from wealth or part of the American Dream had been established into National Policy in 1836 by Secretary of War Lewis Cass.

Not many people know that of the 44 original founders and developers of Los Angeles in the early 1850's, 26 were black. During the following century, nearly all of the lands were either sold or taken from the original black owners.

There have been countless, and I mean countless, examples of blacks being disenfranchised from wealth building and systematically/purposely made to be poor which was recycled generation after generation.

After the Civil War, when nearly all of the land and wealth building resources had been clamed by members of the majority white society, conservative social forces began campaigns against any governmental program or policy that portended assistance or a redistribution of wealth to blacks. Convinced that the majority white society was well in possession or control of weath, power and resources, conservatives promoted an ideology that the right people were already aboard the wealth boat, so keep the gangplank up.

In 1860, five percent of the population controlled approx. 25% of the country's wealth. 160 years later, after a Civil War, two World Wars, a major economic depression and a Civil Rights Movement, the major possessors of weath remain unchanged. Most of the wealth was passed from generation to generation.

The younger generations of whites resent being held morally or financially responsible for the racial sins of their ancestors, though, as whites, they still enjoy the inherited advantages and privileges of slavery.

Ironically, most wealthy conservatives today pretend that they earned their wealth, rather than admit that they got it the old fashioned way, through preferential government treatment, exploitation of black labor, expropriation of Indian land, or simply as an inheritance from those who acquired it though onr or any combination of those three ways.

Conservative elements oppose reparations or any government program that benefits blacks, but few acknowledge the existence of or oppose systemic government programs that distribute wealth to various special interest groups within the majority white society.

Despite current political rhetoric, blacks are not the primary recipients of federal grants, "giveaways", and subsidies. Historically, the largest recipients of federal government largess have been railroads, ranchers, farmers and mines. Theoretically, public lands and resources withint the US owned by or held in trust for ALL citizens. Accordingly, the federal government should manage these properties in a way that benefits all Americans, but they haven't, and instead systematically permitted a select wealthy population to use, exploit and profit from these public resources.

These programs frequently never required the recipients to pay anything, and when payment was required, the payment nver approached the fair market value for the public resources. As such, these programs amount to massive taxpayer funded subsidies to the recipients. Due to the racial policies and feelings within the nation at the time these grants were made, the benefits were doled out along racial lines. These programs, some of which continue to this day (Wilder voice) can therefore be considered race-based government preferences for whites, even now.

        • The major purpose for building the railroad system across America was to move the slave-produced goods to domestic markets and to seaports for shipment to foreign markets. Centuries of sales of slave-produced cotton, tobacco, rice and indio had built the Southern economy and sustained the Norther businesses upon which the American domestic and foreign trade were based. In The Use of Blacks in America, historian Dan Lacy discussed how black labor subsidized the development and westward expansion of the railroads. According to Lacy, "The shiploads of cotton poured onto the docks of Liverpool [England} financed the factoies and railroads of the US and the vast settlement of the American West. In the economic life of 19th century America, with black labor, 'Cotton was King' and caused the nation to prosper and expand.

The railroads, such as the Illinois Central, were allowed to purchase millions of acres from the government at the price of 5 cents an acre to build additional tracks. These same railroads later made massive fortunes by reselling the land that they received free from the government to land speculators. Author Howard Zinn indicated the potential profits stating:

"Within 10 years, the Illinois Railroad Line publicly announced that it had 1,100,000 acres, or less than one-half of its original grant, for sale in forty-acre lots and upwards, at prices ranging from $5 to $25 per acre, whereas the national domain was offered at $1.25 per acre".

Of the approx. 2.6 mil acres that the Illinois Central Railroad received from the government through land grants, all but 450,000 acrs were sold in less than 20 years. Whites holding corporate stocks and bonds in these railroads also received significant capital gains, though millions of acres of the best public land was given to their company free of charge. They were then allowed to reap a second windfall capital gain by upgrading the land for better public land.

Blacks, on the other hand, could not profit from the railraod land grants because they were slaves or poor freemen, who could not hold or purchase any of the land, railroad stocks, bonds, or hold corporate positions. The common perception of blacks as slaves made it nearly impossible for a black to get a paying job with the railroad lines.

Many railroad lines actually purchased slaves as property and business equipment. Railroads used slaves to do the heavy loading, maintain tracks and railroad cars. Other times slaves were purchased on speculation for capital gains. According to Stanley Lebergott, the North Carolina Railroad listed among its assets: real estate, tools, and two Negroes, worth $1,550.

Even when railroads held public auctions or resold their land holdings, few, if any, blacks could afford to purchase any of the parcels. As a result, there were no freed black stockholders or heirs to railroad fortunes. Beyond not being able to own railroad stock, they could not get railroad service in their communities. The railroads would not establish train stations in black sections of any town or city, nor hire blacks for anything except the most undesirable, lowest paying jobs.

Off the top of my hear, just wash and repeat these same practices to the Rancher/Grazer, Farmer and mining industry and you will see how White America obtained over 90% of US wealth and disenfranchised blacks while doing it. They were then able to lock in their generational wealth and pass it down to their family to be.

Blacks are owed reparations due to the lack of opportunity to acquire wealth during the time the wealthy acquired and received their wealth and power.

Thanks bruh. The rabbit hole gets much deeper as you may already know. We're not even scratching the surface on this topic.

Why is this significant? There are a lot of patents out here that weren't invented by the patent owner, but was invented the patent owners' slave.... That means there's potentially billions of dollars out here in the wrong hands that has been stolen and generationally passed down and recycled.

                Yeah, reparations are owed.

Another great point. We've seen a few of these companies come out and say slaves were really responsible for this and that which led to their success. Imagine how many of those stories are untold, going to the grave with those who knew.

Absolutely, I'm sure there are many stories/secrets that never fully made it out. One can only imagine.

What are ways you think reparations can be implemented?

                      - -Revoke the 14th amendment.

Easy work for keyboard warriors who can only paint their world in black.

You wanna go after Chase et al, fine, but it ain't like anyone here was born with a silverspoon and owes you a dime.

Blacks will be held responsible as the originators of black slavery whose African ancestors traded them for profit and trinkets for uncounted tens of thousands of years before they ever migrated out of Africa.
