If Cody is out 6-8 months that pretty good timing for him to come back and win the Rumble. I honestly doubted they could keep Cody as over as he is currently as a face up until Wrestlemania, him going away for a few months solves that problem. I think this could be a blessing in disguise from a booking standpoint.

Me too. I also remember when he did some commentary and hosted Rogers' Corner. And watched when he was a heel and won the title from Pat O'Connor, who they named "The O'Connor" roll after, saying in the post match interview "It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy"

I was thinking the same thing about Cody too. They cut so many wrestlers in the past two years, there's not a whole lot of interesting feuds available for Cody to stay busy until Mania, unless they end the brand split.

It's also a combination of WWE sucking at long term booking and the fans being so fickle. But Cody wrestling in that condition last Sunday made his value even higher with the fans and WWE management.

If Cody didn't get injured, I thought maybe they could have pulled the trigger at Summerslam to get the belts off Roman.

If Roman vs. the Rock actually happens at Mania, they really don't need Roman to be champ then. But WWE is so stubborn and it seems like they want to throw everything they could into that match, like Roman vs. Brock earlier this year.

Having Roman hold both titles makes things even harder to book, but that's a different topic altogether.

I agree on all counts man, the pop for his return is gonna be huge. Even if you don’t like Cody you have ti respect what he did last Sunday.

I really hope they find a way to get at least one of the titles off Reigns. Have a triple threat and don’t have him be the guy take the fall if you wanna keep him strong until Mania. I think he goes over vs The Rock anyway so one loss in-between doesn’t hurt him IMO. Especially if it’s not clean.

                Exactly.

I always really liked Cody ever since his "Dashing" days, but he was never my favorite. But I can say now, he's definitely one of my favorites in WWE. I also didn't like how the AEW crowd treated him the last few months he was there. It was just the "cool thing" to boo Cody at the time, wrestling fans can be annoyingly trendy sometimes. Cody literally set himself on fire, and they still booed him lol.

But he's been on a whole other level since he left WWE. Never seen a wrestler repackage and rebuild himself so well since leaving WWE. Drew McIntyre would be an honorable mention.

He bet on himself when he left WWE, worked in Japan and the indies and helped start AEW.

Then he bet on himself again when he came back to WWE, and he's totally killing it. This is the most over he's ever been.

I always thought they dropped the ball with him. There were several times I thought WWE were gonna push the button on Cody but for whatever reason they never really elevated him from the midcard. He had to leave really and as you said that gamble has paid off massively.

The AEW crowd is very smarky IMO. It feels like they’re trying to get themselves over. I’m an old school wrestling fan, I’m not a fan of the choreographed gymnastics you see in Omega matches or the Bucks’ matches. Cody was one of the best guys they had for my money, the negative crowd reaction surprised me tbh. I get he possibly overstayed his welcome in the TNT championship picture but it’s not like it was reign of terror like Jarrett in TNA or Triple H in the mid 2000’s.

                  • AEW's new All-Atlantic title is beautiful. Looks a little bit like the AEW Women's world title. When Schiavone announced a new title, I was hoping for the Trios tag team titles, but I definitely thought they needed another men's singles title.

Hopefully Pac wins it, he deserves a title. He's an AEW original.

If not him, then maybe Malakai.

I love all wrestling styles, but definitely an old school fan as well. Flair and Steamboat are wrestling gods to me. Bret and HBK as well.

My favorite workers nowadays are guys who are good all around. Like AJ Styles, Adam Cole, Seth Rollins, and Bryan Danielson have the styles that I like most. Hard hitting and technical, but they could be very flashy and pull off high spots when the match calls for it. AJ was kind of a spot guy when he was younger in his TNA days, but he eventually became a great all around wrestler.
